Eskom TID Rollover Information

We want to share some important information about the TID rollover – something you may have heard about in the past weeks.

Important Note: Prepaid24 is an accredited Eskom electricity supplier, and our tokens are issued on KRN2.

What is the TID rollover?

The TID rollover is a mandatory update for STS prepaid electricity meters in South Africa. The current token system will reach its sequence limit by 24 November 2024, making older tokens invalid. To prevent service disruptions, all prepaid meters must be updated before this deadline to ensure tokens continue to work.

Without this update, you won’t be able to load prepaid electricity tokens after the cut-off date, which could result in power interruptions.

What should Eskom clients do to avoid issues?

As an Eskom client, you likely fall into one of three categories:

  1. Your meter has ALREADY been updated.
If this applies to you, you can make a purchase through Prepaid24 and will receive your recharge token instantly.
  2. Your details are registered with Eskom, but your meter STILL needs to be updated.
In this case, you can make a purchase through Prepaid24, and you will receive three tokens – two to update your meter and one to recharge it.
  3. Your details are NOT registered with Eskom, and your meter STILL needs to be updated.
You will need to confirm your details with Eskom using one of the following channels:
    • Alfred Chatbot: alfred.eskom.co.za/chatroom
    • USSD: *120*37566#
    • CS Online: csonline.eskom.co.za
    • MyEskom Customer App: Available on the IOS App Store or Google Play Store
    • Once your details are confirmed, Eskom will provide you with two tokens to update your meter. After that, you can recharge seamlessly through Prepaid24.

Not sure which category you’re in?

As per Eskom's website, you can check whether your meter is on KRN1 or KRN2 by entering the below code on your meter's keypad:
1844 6744 0738 4377 2416

  • If you see the number 1, your meter is still on KRN1 and needs to be updated to KRN2.
  • If you see the number 2, your meter is already updated to KRN2 and no further action is needed.
